Adam Widdrington

I support: Newcastle United (Season Ticket holder)

My first live football match was: Newcastle United 4-1 Cambridge United, 28 November 1992. I remember Lee Clark tearing the Cambridge left back apart, watched from the luxury of an East Stand corporate box. A fancy introduction to the beautiful game, granted, but not a prawn sandwich in sight.

My greatest footballing memory is: Watching my first live Sky game with my Dad. Newcastle were trailing 1-0 at home to Blackburn (9 October 1994), before Steve Howey equalised in the 88th minute. Cue celebration Klinsmann dives around the room (from both of us).

The greatest player of all time is: Alan Shearer. Honorary mentions to Roberto ‘The Divine Ponytail’ Baggio and Peter Beardsley: Messi, The Prequel.

The worst player to play for England is: Gavin McCann.

My least favorite thing about the modern game is: Co-commentators. Waddle, Quinn, Beglin, Townsend – I’m looking at you.
